Mark is a skilled and experienced rescue specialist with a career spanning more than 25 years. Mark has focused on advanced rescue disciplines, including rope, trench, confined space, and swift water rescue. He serves with Ben Lomond Fire Protection District in Santa Cruz County, where he leads in training and firefighter development. Mark was instrumental in developing their swiftwater team, which responds throughout Santa Cruz County. He continues to lead training in water and rope rescue disciplines.
Additionally, Mark works with private industry, leading teams in high-hazard, confined space entry. In that role, Mark develops rescue plans and leads safe entry operations.
Captain Brown is a member of the rescue cadre in the local academy, where he regularly teaches recruits in rescue operations and firefighter skills. Mark’s passion is learning, and he treats every teaching opportunity as an opportunity to develop skills.
